Accessible dog beach

Problems

There are no year round accessible beaches where wheelchair users can take their dogs to play in the water.

The beach on Diemerpark does not have an accessible path near the water, and the beach is prohibited for dogs from 1 April  to 1 October.

The IJburg beach on Strandeiland has an accessible path near the water, but the beach is prohibited for dogs from 1 April  to 1 October.

The beach across from the DekaMarkt is the only beach that people using wheelchairs can take their dogs to the beach year round. Unfortunately, the only place that is wheelchair accessible is 50 meters away from the water at the entrance and much too far to play with dogs in the water.

Solutions

It would be really nice if there was an area at the beach on Strandeiland that is near the accessible path allowed dogs year round.

If that is not possible on Strandeiland it would be nice to have a path to the water at the beach across from the DekaMarkt. Unfortunately, we have heard that the beach across from the DekaMarkt is temporary, so this might not be possible.

Sidewalks, curbs and street slopes

It is an obstacle course to use the sidewalks and curbs on IJburg with a wheelchair in places there is not a bicycle path. The location of the crossing for wheelchairs is too far from the car crossing and cars do not see wheelchair users waiting to cross.
